ABOUT

About netshoot.org

Who runs this site, what we cover and how we keep every network-debugging guide accurate.

WHO WE ARE

A practical guide to network debugging with netshoot

netshoot.org explains how to use netshoot, the open-source Docker and Kubernetes network troubleshooting container. We write step-by-step guides for the problems people actually hit: DNS that won’t resolve, ports that won’t answer, services that can’t reach each other, and traffic you need to see with your own eyes.

Our readers are developers, DevOps engineers and SREs who want the right command quickly, plus an explanation of what the output means.

Important: netshoot.org is an independent website. netshoot itself is created and maintained by nicolaka on GitHub and released under the Apache-2.0 license. We are not the authors or maintainers of the project.

WHAT WE COVER

Guides built around real troubleshooting tasks

Docker networking

Attach netshoot to a container's network namespace and test DNS, routes and open ports from the inside.

Kubernetes debugging

Use ephemeral debug containers or a throwaway pod to troubleshoot Services, Pods and node networking.

Packet capture

Capture and read traffic with tools such as tcpdump when logs alone don't explain the problem.

Tool walkthroughs

Plain-English explanations of the tools bundled in the image, with example commands and output.

HOW WE WORK

Our editorial rules

Network tooling is unforgiving: a wrong flag wastes an hour. These rules keep our guides trustworthy.

01

Commands are tested

We run the commands in our guides before publishing and show the output they actually produce.

02

Official sources first

We point to the official image nicolaka/netshoot and the GitHub repository, and we tell you to pull from there.

03

No invented numbers

No fake download counts, ratings, benchmarks or testimonials.

04

Corrections welcome

If a step is wrong or outdated, tell us and we will check it and update the page.
